MagHub

Prepare Data

  1. In MagHub, go to Settings > Data Import/Export > Import Data

  2. In the Import Type dropdown, select Contact Import

  3. This screen gives you the required fields for your contact spreadsheet

  4. Create your .csv file by including the required fields and any other additional fields you want to include.

Map the Columns

  1. Once you’ve created your .csv file, add it as the file to import into the Contact Import screen (step 2 in above instructions)

  2. Here you can go through column by column to map the data fields in your .csv file to the data fields in MagHub. If you would like to skip a column, you can just leave it as Ignore Column.

  3. You’ll also note that you can include any dynamic attributes that are Contact Dynamic Attributes as part of your mapping (any fields with (Contacts) next to it, as seen below).

Import Data

  1. When done mapping, click Next

  2. Always test the import first. It will give you error messages that will help clean up your file.

  3. Clean up your data to resolve the error messages.

  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you get no errors in the data you are trying to upload.

  5. Begin Import. It should say you imported your data successfully!

Update Contacts

  1. Updating Contacts en masse is the same process, but you need to include two columns: Contact ID and Update Flag. Look to the documentation on the Contact Import screen for info about these two columns.

  2. The Contact ID will be this number:

  1. Update Flag will be 1 for all the contacts you want to update.

  2. Note that MagHub will automatically create a new contact if the Company ID isn’t the exact company that contact is associated with in MagHub. So for instance, Jana Jones needs to have 1865 in the Company ID field or Gill Group. Otherwise MagHub will not recognize it as the same person and make a new contact.

  1. Also note that MagHub overrides any information that you didn’t map. So if you don’t have address information mapped because it is already in MagHub, it will actually remove that information once you update the contact. So map all the fields you possibly can when you update contacts
